outlandish tales

“I’ve seen bandits like that; we were carting wine and ale north from Goldenfields, when it started sleeting all of a sudden. By the time the sleet passed, the ground was frozen and the cart couldn’t move. That was when four of those mean bandits with the teeth on their swords came up, and they had one leader in armor; they loaded almost all of our cargo onto their own sledge and were gone in a hurry. You know, I didn’t get a really good look at her, but that leader— I could have sworn she had some kind of shells growing out of the back of her neck!”

“The blackguards that got us were a half-dozen, and they had an ogre with them! But these outlaws wore some kind of plate armor, with bumps coming out of it all over the place, like their armor could be used to bash in a head just like their morningstars bashed in my partner’s skull. Their leader got into a spot of trouble when my mates launched a counterattack, but the four of them were knocked off their feet somehow and that man just stood there, laughing at them. The ogre took my lord’s travel chest off the back of the wagon, then sent us survivors on our way; but when I looked back, I could see them actually burying my partner’s body!”
“None of you have a patch on this one; my brother Angroil was delivering an order from Tantur’s Smithy to the Harvest Inn in Westbridge, and over his head he saw five people soaring high above him. They circled him for a couple of minutes, kettling like vultures, so my brother got a good look at them. He was smart, real smart, and he actually rolled up the tarp covering his wagon so those flying folk, whoever they were, could see he only had iron kettles, window grates, and such; after another minute, the five of them glided off towards the east. By that time, Angroil could see they had something like a cape stretched between arms and legs."
